Success Mind Set Fundamentals

Mind set is the term used to describe the predominant state of mind that a person has on a regular basis. I like to describe it as a day-to-day attitude that influences the outcome of our life experiences. While we all have ups and downs in life, it is what we think about, talk about, focus on, and expect, what sets our mind set in motion. When we think, talk and act from a positive standpoint, the natural result is the emergence of a success mind set - regardless of the task at hand.

On the contrary, when we think negatively we narrow our views and become pessimistic about our options. This leads to expectations of the worst -even if unconsciously- and that is exactly what we draw into our life experience. .. the worst possible scenarios.

Fortunately, mind set is malleable and it is based on choice -meaning, you can consciously decide to develop a success mind set by thinking positively and expecting the best on a regular basis. Once you adopt this frame of mind, you put yourself in an advantageous position that propels you into action while anticipating and expecting a successful outcome. The rest falls into place and it is very likely you’ll end up getting your intended result.

Enlightening information, isn’t it? But… how does it work, precisely? How is it that a success mind set can translate into a world of difference regardless of the goal?

Once you learn about the three fundamentals that go hand in hand with a success mind set, you will be better able to determine if you will be successful at any task even before you start working on it. How is that for getting in an advantageous position, or -like they say it- starting out on the right foot?

  • Mind set and self confidence

When you lack belief in yourself and your capabilities, your self esteem suffers. As a result, you get a sense of helplessness and hopelessness which makes you feel inadequate. When you doubt your self confidence, you see everything as pointless; you stop trying because you believe whatever you want to achieve won't happen anyway. Obviously, this kind of mind set is a recipe for disaster, and one that must be addressed as soon as it is identified.

On the other hand, acquiring a real success mind set means you have a strong belief in yourself and your capabilities. Even if you don’t know how to do a particular thing, this "Can Do" attitude will propel you to learn what you need in order to accomplish your goal.

Therefore, you must work on boosting your self-confidence so your attitude becomes that of a champion. From that point on, you'll be willing to give anything your best shot. The best part is that the more you try, the more confident you become. And, the more confident you become, the more your self-esteem grows. This cycle can make you virtually unstoppable!

  • Mind set, Determination and Perseverance

Without a success mind set, one failure will be enough to convince you that pursuing any goal is a total waste of time. This is when determination and perseverance come into play.

Most of us won’t become a raving success the first time around, especially when the task at hand requires training and/or practice. Thus, before discarding it as something impossible, acknowledge that very few things worth having are attained easily.

When you have a success mind set you become conscious of the fact that one failure is not the end of the story but just one way it didn’t work. In fact, when you adopt a success mindset you become aware of this truth: Failure just happens when you stop trying.

It is possible to improve your determination with thought and behavior modification tools. This type of conditioning is quite powerful as it reprograms the mind to become relentless and determined to succeed at anything.

  • Mind set and Action

Have you ever felt intimidated or inadequate because you didn't know the best approach to a specific task? Even if you had a vague idea of the course of action, the actual action steps might have been unclear, and as a result you ended up procrastinating or self-sabotaging yourself as you hoped for an easier or less frightening way to attain your goal. Needless to say, this is the wrong mind set to embark in any endeavor.

On the contrary, when you have a true success mind set, a Can Do attitude, even when you don’t know all the right steps, you become proactive in searching for the proper information until you find the most effective action steps that will lead directly to your goal.

When you add inner confidence, tenacity and determination to the mix, you will have acquired a success mind set; your sure recipe for success!
