My Top 10 Tips For Feeling Happy

We can sometimes be so easily impacted by external circumstances. The trick is to minimize the impact and maintain a balanced perspective on what is actually so.
Here are my top 10 tips for lifting my spirit, when surrounding events could potentially lower my energy state.
1. Drink more water, most of us are walking around in a dehydrated state more often than we may realize. Eat well too. Enjoy more freshly grown produce and reduce meat, sugar and fats in your diet. Try growing your own.
2. Catch up on sleep and rest. It is another by-product of modern life that many of us are sleep deprived, also without much awareness that this is the case for us.
3. Create a personal space in your home that is yours alone. A place that you can retreat and find a little regular time with yourself. Learn to mediate and practice it often.
4. Stay away from main stream media and news broadcasts. Greg and I did that for a full month once, it was amazing how much better and lighter we felt. We also had so much more time!
5. During a Tony Robbins weekend we were asked to stand, lift our eyes, pull back shoulders and smile, then try to feel depressed - we couldn't do it. When we changed our posture to a slouch, with hung shoulders and looking at floor, we had no problem getting into a state of feeling down!
6. Get in touch with nature. Dig around in your garden for a little while and sense the energy of plant and animal life around you.
7. Read uplifting literature, listen to inspiring music or watch an upbeat movie. Remove your mind from issues, and allow yourself a mini-break. You'll return to any problem, with greater clarity.
8. Call a friend, connect with another human being. It's important to not spin round in circles in your own mind when you're feeling flat. Should you find yourself in "darker places", ask yourself often, "Is that really true?".
9. Find a way to be generous to another. Do something for someone else, something that you'd like someone to do for you right now. It will take you out of the 'pity me' frame of mind and put your focus outside of you.
10. Work your way through the Clean Sweep Program. Just Google those words and you'll find a copy there somewhere. There's nothing like a clean space, full communication and self-responsibility to give you that feeling of aliveness!
