My Grandsons Are My Happiness

by Wanda
(Las Cruces, NM, USA)

I am going through the roughest period of my life. I had 8 heart attacks in 2009 and have had 4 more in 2010. For about 6 months last year I was so depressed that I just wanted to sleep and not see anyone. Then, in December my two youngest grandsons had to come to live with me.

My youngest is 1 year old and weighs only 15 pounds. He eats heartily all day long; but he just does not grow. However, he is so happy and excited about life that his happiness is contagious.

I'm focusing on feeding him every 2 hours and all the 'in between' things to take care of a bubbly 1 year old have brought me out of my depression and into happiness.

I give him Reiki treatments, toning when he takes his nap... He even tones with me now!

I am teaching my 8 year old grandson to practice Reiki and EFT for his mom and his little brother. It has been great since the boys have come to live with me. I feel truly happy by this experience!

My Grandson, My Happiness
by: Anonymous

Like you, I also find happiness in my grandson, Sean. He is about to turn 1 year old on July 8, 2010.

My grandson has inspired me and have changed a lot of negative aspects in my life. I take care of him and make sure that he is well fed and pampered. My daughter is 15 years old, a very young mom but very responsible. She always reminds me not to spoil her son like I spoiled her and her sister, both growing up as papa's girls.

I don't have a son, and having named my grandson Sean -a gift from God- was a great thing, especially because I always wanted a son. I might have been too tough on my daughter, but once he came along and brightened our lives, he has become a true symbol of love, hope and happiness for all of us.

Bravo!

I think it is a beautiful thing that your grandsons mean so much to you that you are willing to look beyond yourself in order to bring happiness to them first. When you give to others, you get something in return that is very powerful, and helps you overcome your depression.

My father was in a similar situation, having multiple heart attacks and subsequent depression, but sadly, he decided to take his own life rather than live for his children. His decision will affect me for the rest of my life, as well as everyone who was close with him, and I applaud you for not taking the easy way out and reacting to your depression with strength and character so that your grandsons will be able to look back on their memories of you with admiration and love.
