Happiness Is...

by Chris
(Vancouver, WA, USA)

Chris Cade

Happiness is when... I go to visit my 3 year old son, he
jumps into my arms, throws his arms around me, gives
me a kiss
, and then says "BITE NOSE" and proceeds to
playfully chomp on my nose!

Happiness is when... I share my heart's desires with another person, and am reminded why dreams mean so much to us.

Happiness is when... I run while pulling my son in his wagon, and he squeals
with delight
and says "More! Faster!"

Happiness is when... I witness another person experiencing that 'Aha!'
moment
when their life is changed positively forever.

Happiness is when... My smile or kind words brighten somebody else's day.

Happiness is when... I realize that even though as a kid I hated my mom's kisses (and tried to wipe them off as fast as I could -- as if I could "wipe off" a kiss!), I now love her kisses because I know what it feels like to never be able to give my own
son enough kisses.

Happiness is when... A playful dog licks my face and reminds me that there's always more than enough love in the world to go around.

Happiness is when... Everything goes completely opposite as I had planned, yet somehow works out more perfectly than I could have ever imagined.

Happiness is when... My son is eating his favorite ice cream, and he loves it so
much he has to share it with me... so he scoops out a spoonful and feeds it to
me, just the way I would feed him.

Happiness is when... Tammy invites me to write about happiness, and I feel happier just by writing. :)

Just beautiful, Chris!
by: Tamara

I loved your article... it reminded me of a stamps album that I used to have when I was about 8 years old.

The name of the album was "Love Is..." and every stamp had a cute cartoon-like picture with a 'love' statement laid out exactly as you wrote your article, like:

Love is... giving your boyfriend a hug.
Love is... smiling when the times get though.
Love is... watching a rainbow after the storm.
Love is... offering a word of encouragement.
Love is... playing checkers with your buddies.

Every week, I'd ask my mom for a few pesos (I grew up in Mexico City) to buy my stamps at the corner's grocery store. There were 10 stamps in a pack, and they released a few packs every week with new stamps.

The thing is we never knew what stamps we were buying because the packs were sealed! So, if I got two identical packs, I'd find a friend who needed my stamps in exchange for some I didn't yet have.

This stamp collecting hobby was not only fun, but a learning experience. It allowed for interaction, investigation, development of memory and learning negotiation skills as some stamps were more scarce than others.

The winner was the one who completed the whole album first with all 500 stamps on it. The prices were great, plus we would get cheered by our peers and parents :)

Ahhhh, those childhood days!

I hadn't rememberer this in years. Thanks for making me smile today!!

Happiness is... Reading a "Happiness is..." List! :-)
by: Steve

Chris (and Tammy)

I simply love reading "happiness is..." lists like this. So much so, that I believe that the act of reading such a list, or thinking about your own happiness list, can make you feel happy.

As for Chris' list, even though I am not a father I really can appreciate the joy that a son or a daughter brings to a parent. :-)

As for me, well sitting in my conservatory (with a small c!) in the summer and watching the birds fly about in the sky on a sunny day is one way I feel happy, for sure.

And eating apple crumble and custard. Yum!

And listening to classical music.

And... (More of my happiness list can be read on my own 'happy' site here

:-)

Steve

P.P.S. I love Chris' stuff by the way, and I can vouch for his Empowerment ebook.
