Health Videos

There is no doubt about it. Health is the ultimate treasure we possess, and unfortunately, one we pay little attention to until we become ill. Fortunately, there are many things we can do to prevent disease, and most of them are relatively simple.

The first thing we can do is to acknowledge the fact that -in most cases- our health is in our hands. Then, acquire the determination to implement some lifestyle and/or behavior changes accordingly. Also, let's remember that most modern day ailments have one common denominator: stress; thus, learning to handle stress is one big factor to living healthier.

The videos listed in this section are meant to inform you about recent findings to improve and maintain your health. They are not meant to substitute treatment or the advise of your physician. Please click here to read the Medical Disclaimer.

Mindfulness as a Foundation for Health

Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh (known as Thay in his circles) made a rare visit to the Googleplex to lead a half-day Health@Google workshop in "The Fundamentals of Mindfulness". The exercises and rituals of mindfulness lay the path to optimal health and happiness.

Thay may be the second most famous Buddhist monk in the world, right after the Dalai Lama. He is certainly one of the most respected Zen Masters in the world. Thay is a best-selling author, poet, and peace activist who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Martin Luther King Jr. He is a key pioneer in actively applying insights from meditation to solving real-world social, political and environmental problems.

Good news: According to Dr. Stephen Stokes, certain herbs can help you prevent and minimize chronic pain, such as Ginger, Turmeric, and Devil's Claw root extract - so there is NO need for pain medication!
