An Interview with...

Chris Cade

BIO

Chris is the visionary behind the world's #1 Spiritual Story site on the Internet. He also holds two 2nd degree black belts in Tae Kwon Do from different schools, earned the National Championship Title for "Creative Forms" competition in 1994, and placed Bronze at the Super Grands World Games also in 1994 for "Creative Forms" competition.

In April 2009, he asked his employer to lay him off so that he could follow his heart's dreams to empower people worldwide with his network of spiritual websites, the Inscribe Your Life program, and his upcoming printed book "Think Without the Box."

  • How would you describe yourself, Chris?

Generosity and compassion are two qualities that first come to heart. My ability to overcome adversity with grace is something other people notice about me, as well as my friendliness and willingness to to be there for others. I highly value the qualities of truth and authenticity, and seek to embody them in everything that I do.

  • I understand that you left the corporate world to become an entrepreneur... what lead you to this radical decision, and how did you overcome the initial challenges that are a natural part of a big change like this?

First of all, let me say that I never wanted to do any of this... I feel like it was chosen for me. And with that in mind, I think the best way for me to share this experience with you is through an audio interview I did last year with Sharon Wilson where we explored this (and other stuff). Click here to listen to it. (You can also download and read the PDF transcript)

  • In one of your websites you write... "My purpose is to use insight, compassion, and the rapid embodiment of wisdom to enable people to experience meaningful states of inner peace, joy, and abundance"... What made you realize that helping others in this manner was a part of your purpose in life?

A few years ago I was working with one of my friend's information product about finding your perfect business, and there was a section on discovering life purpose. The reason for this was that only through discovering life purpose would I be able to discover my perfect business.

At first I was skeptical that an ebook could give me that kind of guidance; however, as I completed the program, and the guided exercises, the above statement is what unfolded. Ever since then, it has been a guiding light through which I gauge all of my interactions and creations.

  • I know you are passionate about spiritual stories, and that you have built a network of websites around this concept. Please share with us a few points that support the life changing power of personal stories.

For centuries, spiritual sages have told short stories to enlighten and inspire others, and counting the stories that Jesus and the Buddhas have told might take a lifetime. In fact, it would probably take several lifetimes to fully integrate the wisdom within those stories. And the reason people continue to tell, and love, short stories is because stories are the most effective way to communicate incredibly powerful ideas.

Stories are powerful because they are the way you naturally think. Whether you're consciously aware of this or not, you intuitively think in narrative structures. This could be talking about your day, connecting with a friend, or reflecting on your experiences. Stories imprint themselves into your brains naturally from your earliest years.

By learning how to really understand the way you experience stories, you become enabled to transform your life in ways that are intuitive, and perhaps best of all, entertaining... :)

"And you will know the truth,
and the truth shall set you free."

    ~ John 8:32

  • I have noticed you frequently refer to fears and forgiveness and the way in which stories can help us overcome them. Can you give us an idea on how this can be accomplished?

    Here's the short version. :)

It's important to realize that we choose which meanings we give our lives. If you had a pleasant childhood, you might have positive stories about the world and be more willing and able to forgive people's wrong-doings (including your own). If you had a difficult childhood, then it may be more difficult to forgive.

Then remember that your childhood experiences are significantly influenced by your parents. Not only that, but your parents had upbringings. Your parents attached meaning to their experiences, just as you've attached meaning to yours.

But what if all we've been doing for generations is attaching the wrong meanings to our actions and other peoples' actions? What if the stories we told ourselves about why our parents did certain things are just... stories?

When we look for the Truth about our experiences, when we start dissecting the stories to find the facts, what we often discover is that everybody in life does the best they can with what they have. And if they did the best they can, if we do the best we can, then forgiveness is not about what happened or even why it happened, but rather, forgiveness becomes about letting go of the old emotional energy we had tied up in our painful stories.

I've created a wonderful free PDF workbook on exactly how to use the power of stories for forgiveness. Click here and then scroll down the page to the Downloads section. Be sure to download the sample chapter "Overcoming Doubts and Fears" as well. Both downloads have insights you can begin using today to transform your life, in as little as just a few minutes.

Also, I created an entire video series on the transformational power of stories in our lives, and the 2nd video in the series is about 20 minutes long and goes into much greater detail about how to uncover your personal stories to forgive yourself and others.

"You will know that forgiveness has begun
when you recall those who hurt you
and feel the power to wish them well."

    ~ Lewis B. Smedes, Author
    "The Art of Forgiving"

  • The "Inscribe Your Life" program is a pivotal element in your network of spiritual websites. Would you share with us the focal points about this program, as well as what makes it so special and empowering to your students?

For me, what makes it special is that I discovered through the art of writing stories that I was MORE than my stories, I was MORE than my words, and ultimately I was transforming my life simply by writing down what was already within me. I discovered that the same blocks people I had about writing (such as fears about being uncreative, uninteresting, unimportant) were the same core fears that I and other people have in life.

As more people have worked through my program, it's become clear that Inscribe Your Life serves people best as a catalyst - as a means by which to overcome those basic fears so that they can discover and allow their natural gifts to emerge into the world.

For each person, Inscribe Your Life has a different special meaning. One woman was inspired to self-publish a children's book she hadn't touched in years, another released her fears about sharing herself with the world and she started a blog, began writing her first book, and is building an entire personal development business. Those are just two examples of how special it is to people who have been empowered by it.

If I were to sum it up into one line, I'd say that it helps you effortlessly tap into your creative source, transform conflict into empowerment, overcome doubts and fears, and ultimately it enables you to discover and express the amazing gifts you have within.

  • In closing this brief interview, Chris... If there was one last thought you'd like to share with our readers, what would that be?

Seek the TRUTH above all else.

On the surface that sounds simple, yet at a deeper level to do that requires a fundamental shift in how you view the world and engage with it. I used to think I wanted joy, happiness, love, wealth, etc. All those things that would make me happy and feel at peace. It wasn't until I started seeking Truth that I realized I was chasing all the wrong things.

How many times have we heard the story of the super-wealthy people who had all the money in the world and didn't have happiness? Now consider that if those people had sought the Truth instead, then they would have been on a path that innately brought them the happiness they sought. And as I'm sure you've heard from many directions, when you follow your heart's desires, when you follow your passions, not only are you happier but you also will generate vast amounts of wealth as a natural consequence of living an heartful life.

That's the short version. I particularly like A.H. Almaas's book "Diamond Heart: Book 1" because there's an entire chapter on this topic, and he says it much more clearly than I am here. In fact, reading that chapter in that book changed my entire life... literally it flipped my inner world upside-down. The result has been miracles continue to happen in my life every day that I love, embrace, and would have never imagined possible.

So remember to seek the TRUTH above all else. :)

Thank you, Chris! It is always a pleasure to hear your enlightening and inspiring message. I'm very grateful for your having shared your insights with our readers.

    Thank you!
