Belief… what a powerful word! Most of us have an idea of its meaning, but do you really know what belief is and what power it holds over your life experience? Belief has the power to change not only your inner state, but the world around you. This is because when you believe something from the inside out, it manifests in your outer world.
You are the sole observer of your world so you perceive and manifest according to your beliefs. Yes, it sounds like magic, but I can assure you it is not. After years of research, scientists are barely starting to understand the implications of belief, and even how it intermingles with faith. Let’s explore both…
A belief emerges from existing ideas that you accumulate throughout a lifetime.
These ideas shape your individuality based on personal experience and the way in which you get influenced by the people and world around you. In this sense, the events you have experienced give you the understanding and knowing that become the foundation of beliefs, while faith is based on trust and hope in things yet to happen regardless of your present circumstances or the world around you.
In other words, your reality may be portraying a specific situation that has nothing to do with your belief in what will happen. When you hold this belief with passion, self-conviction and inner knowing from your core, it transforms into faith.
Moreover, a belief can be taken with reservation; meaning, you can believe something and at the same time, you may not be 100% convinced of your belief -more on this later.
In contrast, faith is total confidence and blind certainty of future events.
We all have beliefs about one thing or another, but not all of us have faith. In this sense, faith is much more powerful than beliefs.
Even though all of us have beliefs about one thing or another, it is a wonderful thing that they are not 100% set in stone.
Just consider that true personal growth starts and evolves as you change old beliefs that don’t serve you any longer, with new ones that eventually have an impact in your life.
And here is something even more interesting about belief... beliefs can be either limiting or empowering.
This insight makes a huge difference in the way you perceive your reality. This only means that there are no real barriers or limitations but only those that you have come to believe in.
Once you realize that you have control over this, the door to unlimited possibilities swings wide open and you will feel empowered to achieve or conquer anything you set your mind to.
Have you heard the story of the English athlete, Roger Banister? He became famous after breaking the limit of the 4 minute mile run. You see, for many years scientists believed that it was impossible for a human being to run one mile in under 4 minutes, but in mid 1954, Banister believed he could break that record –and he did.
Roger Banister participated in the Vancouver Games, finishing first with 3 min 58.8 sec, which earned him a mention in the Guinness Book of Records and the Sportsman of the Year award.
The interesting thing is that Banister was not the only runner who accomplished this. Once others saw that this was not only possible but highly probable, a new paradigm emerged. Thirty seven runners believed they could do it too and went onto breaking the same record in that same year!
Many more athletes have done the same –and better- since. Think about what this means! And… it all started with Roger Banister’s belief.
Now that you know this... what
if I told you that you can have, achieve and manifest anything you put your mind to ONLY by allowing yourself to believe? Would you believe me?
Before you answer, let’s explore a few statements...
You can formulate more questions according to your circumstances. You get the idea... What were your answers? The common denominator in all of these questions is belief... It doesn't matter what questions you pose to yourself in life,
it is always about what you believe, and beliefs can be changed. Remember that... always!
So now let’s see if you can answer my initial question... What if I told you that you can manifest anything by just allowing yourself to believe you can? Would you believe me?
